Urgent Care & Emergency Services

Having your own doctor can save you time and money. Your medical problems, in many cases, can be handled by a phone call or same-day visit to the office, thus avoiding the expensive charges and long wait times of an emergency room. In case of an emergency, considerable time and inconvenience can be saved if you call to report an emergency situation and obtain proper instructions from a physician or nurse before rushing to the Urgent Care Center or hospital emergency room.

The word "emergency" should be reserved for those situations that require immediate action and are life threatening, such as severe injuries, acute illnesses or ingestion of poisons. For a "life-threatening" emergency, call 911 or go directly to the nearest hospital emergency room.

Camino Medical Group has a full-service Urgent Care Center available for walk-in, after hours care. The center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and weekends and most holidays, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Please check your insurance plan benefits for coverage details or if you have general questions about the use of urgent care, call our Patient Resource Center at 650-934-7080.

Specialist Care & Referrals

Everyone should have a primary care physician to coordinate their overall care. In many cases, your primary care physician can treat your condition successfully. While all specialty departments at Camino Medical Group have an open access policy, if you need a specialist, your primary care physician will refer you to the appropriate specialty and help to expedite your first appointment if the medical problem is urgent.

Prescription Refills

When you need a prescription refilled, telephone your pharmacy with the prescription number from the container. The pharmacy will either refill the prescription or will call your doctor to authorize additional refills. Please be sure to call your pharmacy several days before your prescription supply runs out.

Patient Account

A patient account is created by a "guarantor," or the person who is financially responsible for patient balances. In most cases, the guarantor is responsible for all family members and would be issued one patient account. It is very important to update information for all members of the patient account as changes occur. This can be done at your doctor's office before your office visit or through the Business Services Department at 408-524-4100. The information needed includes: name or address changes, additions or deletions to dependents, and especially, employer name, address and insurance plan changes.

The Business Services office hours are Monday through Tuesday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday 1 to 4:30 p.m., and Thursday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Your cooperation in calling only during these hours will allow us to better respond to unique billing situations.
